Joseph Lillyblad supports Education and Workforce Development at Southern Company, leading initiatives that support community growth and equitable, inclusive economic development. In this role, Joseph is responsible for developing strategies that strengthen Pre-K-12 and postsecondary education programs that expands the high demand workforce pipeline.

Focused on developing a diverse, qualified, and sustainable workforce supporting Georgia’s economic growth, Joseph leads the 26-person Education and Workforce Development team. This team is responsible for building strategic partnerships, serving as thought leaders, and driving innovation in state and regional organizations. Joseph describes his role as more than a career; it’s an opportunity to leverage Georgia Power’s expertise and resources to create jobs and engaging education opportunities for all of Georgia’s citizens.

Joseph previously worked in Human Resources managing talent acquisition and workforce development across the Southern Company system. He also worked in the healthcare industry focusing on talent, workforce development and strategic growth.

Joseph earned his undergraduate degree in International Relations from Kennesaw State University. He is a graduate of the Education Policy Fellowship program and ARC Regional Leadership Institute. Joseph chairs the Business & Industry Advisory Board for the Georgia Department of Education’s Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) division and chairs Communities in Schools of Georgia’s External Affairs Committee. He also serves on the Advisory Council for WorkSource Georgia (Metro Atlanta) and is a board member for WorkSource Atlanta, Voice’s for Georgia’s Children, GeorgiaFIRST Robotics, and the Georgia Energy and Industrial Construction Consortium.

Originally from Minneapolis, Joseph has lived in the South well over half his life-- and prefers the weather here. His number one passion is traveling the globe as much as possible (Good thing Atlanta is such a great transportation hub). When he's not globe-hopping, Joseph and his family call Atlanta home.
