Art Throwdown at Midtown H.S.

Let’s get ready to create!

"All the things we're supposed to be looking for in active citizenry are supported, fostered, and taught in all of the arts and this is one way to support that initiative"

John Brandhorst - Technical Theatre Director, Woodward Academy

About the Initiative

Art Throwdown at Grady H.S.

Let’s get ready to create!

Young creators were encouraged to step outside the box and step into the creative ring at the annual “Art Throwdown.”

Developed in partnership with former Atlanta Midtown High School art teacher John Brandhorst and Georgia Power, this interscholastic competition brings together advanced art programs across Fulton and DeKalb Counties. This format inspires students and educators with different experiences and artistic skills to connect and collaborate.

The collection on display at the Georgia Experience Center is the product of students answering the question, “What does Atlanta and place mean to you?” Each piece reflects a unique perspective and showcases the talent thriving in Georgia's school systems today.
