The Future of Housing in Georgia
Across Georgia, the conversation around housing is changing. Communities that once saw it purely as a private market issue now recognize it as a cornerstone of local economic growth. The need for quality, attainable homes affect every town, employer, and family This month, leaders from across the state will gather in Savannah to move that conversation forward.
Georgia Power is proud to serve as the presenting sponsor of the 2025 Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Fall Housing Conference, taking place November 17–20. For more than two decades, our company has been part of Georgia’s housing conversation, helping communities of every size find practical ways to make housing more attainable and supportive of their local economies.
This year’s conference is especially meaningful, as it brings together DCA’s long-running Fall Conference with the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing (GICH) Fall Retreat. Georgia Power has been an active GICH partner since its founding in 2004, and our Regional Economic Development team has led housing programs for communities since launching our own housing-education initiative in 2018.
As someone who’s worked with dozens of local leaders through GICH and the Georgia Academy for Economic Development, I’ve seen firsthand the power of collaboration to turn housing challenges into opportunities.

Why Housing Matters to Every Community
From bustling cities to small towns, the story is the same: people need more options. Teachers, healthcare workers, and first responders need places they can afford to live close to where they work. Seniors need homes that fit their changing needs. Young professionals need a way to put down roots.
Communities that offer this range of choices attract and retain talent, support local businesses, and create the kind of stability that drives long-term growth.
A Conference Focused on Real Solutions
The Fall Housing Conference, presented by DCA in partnership with GICH and the Georgia Municipal Association, offers a full agenda of practical ideas and success stories that communities can take home and apply. Topics include:
