25 consecutive years.

We're honored to be named a Top Utility for Economic Development by Site Selection Magazine for the 25th year in a row.

Collage of economic development activites in Georgia.

At Georgia Power, we are committed to helping our state grow and prosper. In the last 10 years alone, we’ve helped bring nearly 206,000 jobs to Georgia.

Our team of business recruitment specialists, engineers, workforce specialists, and research analysts are ready to provide you with the tools, resources, and data needed to make informed and impactful decisions.

Of course, this milestone wouldn't be possible without incredible partners across the state. From the Georgia Department of Economic Development, local chambers and development authorities, School Systems of Georgia, to the Infrastructure and Transportation teams- Georgia's success is powered by our people, our partnerships, and our passion for the state we all call home.

Being named a Top Utility in Economic Development for 25 consecutive years is an exciting recognition of this team’s deep relationships, strong partnerships, and dedication to growing this state. I am incredibly proud of the team and those that came before us, who set the expectation of outstanding service and innovation thinking, in support of growing Georgia. Today, we also celebrate our state and local partners who help make Georgia a No. 1 state for business. We would not be here without you!

How we got here.

Site Selection Magazine doesn't take this recognition lightly, and neither do we. The top utilities featured are those that stand out amongst the nation's 3,300 utilities (including 900 electric cooperatives) for economic development excellence.

Annually, Georgia Power submits an overview to Site Selection outlining new initiatives and innovations from the past year as well as job creation and capital investment supported by Georgia Power.

2022 proved to be a year of innovation and growth, with our Community and Economic Development (C&ED) team stretching our reach and honing our crafts to an exceptional level. Many of our accomplishments in 2022 have been hailed as unprecedented, and we are proud to have contributed to historical wins for the state and local communities. This success was recognized by premier sources of news and trends in economic development.

  • Georgia was named #1 Best State for Doing Business by Area Development magazine for the 9th year in a row in 2022.
  • Georgia ranked the #2 Best State Business Climate by Site Selection magazine, released in November 2022. Historically, Georgia ranked No. 1 and 2 for the last decade, mostly ranking first, based on a survey of site location consultants and Conway location data.

The electric transportation industry experienced extraordinary national growth in 2022. We saw the two largest projects in Georgia history – the Rivian EV (Electric Vehicle) plant as well as the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America.

These announcements and others helped Georgia Power C&ED set all-time records for jobs and capital investment, more than doubling results from last year, which previously held the record. Recognizing the need to fill the pipeline for jobs created, workforce development efforts also reached milestones, including the number of students engaged.

  • 45.6K jobs created (148% increase from 2021)
  • $27.1B capital invested (291% increase from 2021)
  • 140,000 students engaged through K-12 programming and workforce development

While supporting this busy year of project work, the Georgia Power team also committed to developing new products and services through innovative and creative strategies. The following are key examples of the initiatives implemented in 2022:

  • Megaprojects and Large Site Investments
  • Plugging into Georgia’s Leading EV Ecosystem
  • Developing a Talent and Workforce Pipeline
  • The Power of Innovation to Drive Investment
  • Sharing the Power of Story
  • New Programs Supporting Community Prosperity
