Top Utility in Economic Development
For the 27th consecutive year, Site Selection magazine has named Georgia Power a Top Utility in Economic Development, underscoring the company’s enduring commitment to driving growth and prosperity across the state.
“The Top Utilities we named this year earned the honor due to their economic development teams’ outstanding efforts connecting to business and community leaders as well as to power sources,” says Editor in Chief Adam Bruns of a feature Site Selection has published since 1999. “What they hear and what we hear from those leaders is that power provision is top of mind.”
Powering Georgia’s Growth
In 2024, Georgia Power’s Economic Development team helped generate 16,900 new jobs and attract more than $9.1 billion in capital investment to communities statewide. These projects included major wins in advanced manufacturing, logistics, aerospace, and food processing, as well as a surge of office locations that have helped drive growth for[WV2] Georgia communities.
Notable announcements from the year included:
- AIG Innovation Hub – $70 million invested, 1,077 jobs in metro Atlanta
- PrizePicks Headquarters – $25 million invested, 1,018 jobs in Fulton County
- Doowon Climate Control America – $30 million invested, 600 jobs in Candler County
- First Quality Baby Products Expansion – $418 million invested, 600 new jobs created and 375 retained in Bibb County
- SOLARCYCLE Manufacturing Facility – $344 million invested, 617 jobs in Cedartown
To continue to provide partners with the best possible information when making site decisions, the company also upgraded its Site Selector and proprietary Site Assessment Matrix, giving businesses cutting-edge tools unique to Georgia that help find and evaluate the perfect location for their needs.
Investing in Communities and Workforce
Beyond business recruitment, Georgia Power is helping to inspire and equip the workforce of the future. The company reached more than 158,000 students in 2024 through K-12 workforce development programs such as Learning Power, while also expanding adult reskilling, technical apprenticeships, and equity-focused initiatives across the state, ensuring that Georgia’s talent pipeline is ready to meet the needs of today’s employers as well as the industries of tomorrow.
Ready for Growth
Georgia Power continues to innovate to meet unprecedented energy demand. After completing Vogtle Units 3 and 4 to make Plant Vogtle the largest generator of carbon-free energy in the country, Georgia Power has continued to strengthen its already best-in-class power grid. By outfitting its infrastructure with more smart devices and adding hundreds of megawatts of battery energy storage, Georgia Power is ensuring that it's ready to meet the needs of a growing Georgia head-on.
A Legacy of Leadership
For more than a quarter century, Georgia Power has been recognized as a Top Utility in Economic Development, a reflection of the company’s long-standing partnerships with state and local leaders, site selectors, and communities. This recognition reinforces Georgia’s reputation as the No. 1 state to do business and highlights Georgia Power’s role in ensuring the state’s continued success.
“This honor reflects the dedication of our entire Economic Development team and the strong partnerships we’ve built across Georgia,” said Arthur Tripp, Georgia Power VP of Economic Development. “We are committed to delivering the reliable energy, community partnerships, and innovative solutions that make Georgia the best place to live, work, and grow.”
